Session Recap 1/24: Space Slaves. Spaves.

While Min and Harrsk went on a side job, the rest of the Helios Rain crew landed on Teth, frigid planet orbiting a dying sun.  Last planet on the hyper lane before the far edge of the galaxy, and beginning of Hutt space, the captain decided to observe local niceties and introduce herself to the Hutt in charge of a throw-back cantina.  In a tavern built for shady deals, the crew entered into one of their own with Guro the Hutt.  Nothing very special, of course...just to rescue cargo from a ship a little further off planet.  To protect the investment, Guro gave the crew protection in the form of some pretty baller* armor.  One condition: to keep it, the cargo must be delivered safely.

Back on Helios Rain, the crew soon discovered that the cargo ship was indeed imperiled.  It was in the custody of an Imperial ship, right next to an Imperial station.  First Mate Gell thought fast however and called upon his knowledge of the Imperial protocols.  He waved the captain of the Imperial ship and claimed that "Kessel" Ba'art Throklon**, captain of the captured ship, had attempted to steal the ship from him. Suspicious at first, the Imperial captain agreed to meet with Helios Rain to discuss the theft.  Using his knowledge, Gell coached Trance on the proper form of documents.  The Imperial was no match for Trance's unparalleled skill in forgery, and soon the ship and cargo were handed over to the custody of Helios Rain, while the unfortunate "Kessel" Ba'art Throklon and his crew were escorted to a justice center for theft.

The crew speedily split up to return the ship to Guro.  Etzio and Trance piloted the cargo ship, and against their own judgment went to have a look at the cargo.  As expected, three Twi'leks were in the hold of the ship, barely clothed, nearly starving and scared.

Trance threatened mutiny, his own demons surfacing before his eyes, but Etzio refused to get attached or to abandon the mission.  Trance spoke with Tyvekka, an oddly named Twi'lek, who was so called in honor of the jedi who had saved her mother.  Tyvekka told Trance that while they dreaded captivity, it was preferable to death, that the hope of freedom would have to be enough, if no one would intercede.  Once again Trance pleaded with Ruby, but to no avail.  Ruby's desire to stay clear of Hutt anger was greater than the fate of three Twi'leks.

Once back on Teth, Guro was quite pleased to see both ship and cargo returned and well.  Trance refused to speak to captain or mate, hiding in a room on the cargo ship.  Ae went to comfort him, explaining that if they did not want to die, and they did not attempt to escape, then they must prefer captivity.  Trance remained un-soothed.

Meanwhile, Ruby chatted with her first mate about how impressed she was with his knowledge of how to talk to Imperials, almost as if he was one. The issue was carefully skirted, but that did not fool the perceptive captain.

It appears that the whole ship may in fact be populated by people escaping.

*This is a space term.  "Baller" is a part of a ship made of solid titanium.  It scoops fuel into a sustainable spherical shape. It is both expensive and incredibly important to the function of the ship, and has entered jargon to mean important and awesome.
