Session Recap 3/21/14 - Tonight There's Gonna Be A Jailbreak

The day started like many others for the crew - wondering what exactly they were doing in this Maker forsaken system and how it was going to result in a paycheck. Fortunately Korso was on hand to provide the answer to both of those questions. The crew followed Korso's emissary from a local watering hole - a wretched hive of scum and villainy - to a nearby barn where they were presented with something that was a bit hard to swallow. Parked in front of the crew were X-Wing fighters complete with their rebel pilots. This was not going to be a normal day of business. Korso told the crew the job was simple: spring a prisoner named Durron Fex from captivity on an Imperial ship. This name seemed vaguely familiar to the crew but set off all manner of alarms for Ruby.

Ruby asked Korso for a moment in private while Trance talked up one of the female pilots and the rest of the crew pondered over the name. Ruby confessed to Korso that the crew had turned in Durron for a bounty and that he had attempted to set Ruby up. Korso was not pleased to hear this but expressed that she understood. Korso then explained that Durron had been working for the rebels and the data disc the crew had handed over were actually weapon plans for a planet destroying space station. She also prompted Ruby to be a better person which twisted a knife within Ruby's already conflicted conscience.

Just as Ruby and Korso rejoined the group Harrsk hit on where he remembered the name from. The crew had, in fact, turned him in for a bounty on the first day that he met them. He fondly recalled the paycheck while Ruby tried to get the crew motivated to head out.

En route to Kashyyyk, where the Imperial ship would be stopping briefly, the crew discussed plans to get on board the Imperial ship and free Durron. In a stunning display of personal growth Harrsk suggests that they not just kill everyone in sight but rather attempt to gain entry by offering Ruby up as a bounty. Ezio is shocked by the suggestion since it doesn't involve killing and seems to agree that it's a reasonable idea. Ruby is none to pleased but eventually the crew determine that it is their best bet for getting onto the ship.

Upon arriving on Kashyyyk the crew are greeted by a Wookiee mercenary leader and there is immediately tension as the Wookiees and Trandoshians do not get along. At all. Trance and Ezio explain the situation and attempt to get help but to no avail, the disdain between the races is too strong to overcome. There is, however, one young Wookiee that offers his skill as a warrior to the group before they head to the landing platform where the Imperial ship will arrive.

Things go smoothly for the crew as Ruby, Trance, and Ezio are handed over to the Imperials by Ae and Harrsk for a rather large sum. Once Harrsk sees the 45,000 credits reflected in his account, a mere down payment for Ruby Altair, he smiles and thanks the Imperial before promptly ending his life with a blaster shot square in the chest. The crew throws off their fake shackles and make short work of the small crew of the Imperial shuttle before boarding to find the pilot cowering in his seat. In exchange for his life he agrees to give the crew the landing code for the larger ship in geostationary orbit above the planet.

The crew depart immediately for the ship and arrive without difficultly. Once on board, however, things go sideways fast. Ezio, Ruby, and Trance take off to find Durron while Ae and Harrsk stay behind to guard the ship. Ezio had donned an Imperial uniform and Trance took the pilot's armor in hopes that it would allow them to move through the ship largely unnoticed. This proved to be mostly true. There was only one minor hiccup when they opened the door on an unsuspecting Baris Quorr who shot on sight. He was not killed but was knocked unconscious and Ezio thought to himself that his former protege would likely be demoted right out of the Imperial Navy for this.

Meanwhile, in the docking bay, Ae and Harrsk were facing off against two groups of Stormtroopers. Ae charged at one group and made short work of the closest poor soul with her knife while Harrsk exchanged blaster fire with the other group. The Stormtroopers were taking minor losses when the ship's captain ordered that the docking bay doors be opened. Harrsk stood frozen for a moment considering retreating into the ship rather than being sucked into the void; then thought better of it and channeled his rage through his blaster. This proved to be a wise decision as in the chaos he was able to kill the remaining Stormtroopers in one terrifying display of firepower.

Below-decks Ruby, Trance, and Ezio finally found Durron. He was severely injured from a year's worth of repeated torture. Ezio took a moment to appreciate the precision and textbook methodology behind the torture before Durron was freed. As soon as Dorron hit the ground he screamed at Ruby to run while he rushed at Trance who was still disguised as an Imperial pilot. Ruby laughed and said they were here to rescue him. This seemed to relieve Durron a bit as he collapsed into the trio.

Once the crew were all safely on board the ship they made a hasty departure, firing some parting shots on the large cruiser on the way out. Ae implored the crew to get a move on if she was to have any chance of keeping Durron from dying. He pleas were heeded and with all due haste the crew found themselves back on board the Helios Rain. Ae worked her magic and was able to stabilize Durron but he was still in very rough shape.

The crew met Korso at the rendezvous and Korso oversaw Durron's transfer to a nearby hospital for proper treatment. She thanked the crew for their great service and left them to attend to whatever other business they had lined up.
